Egg Challenge 1: Reverse Drop
Purpose and Directions
The purpose of this project was to practice paper folding techniques with origami challenges. The direction was to follow online instructions to create several different origami designs.
Evaluation
-
The most difficult part of this project was thinking about how we should create a strong structure.
-
My favorite design was making a big box and then putting the cigarette sized cylinder in each four sides of a box.
-
My test trials did indicated that my final egg drop trial would fail. That's why we changed the design into stronger structure, but unfortunately it didn't worked.
-
Our egg didn't survived. After we dropped one book, an egg got little cracked. Our structure was really strong that after dropping one book, it didn't brake or get into bad shape, but as you can see in the picture, there weren't anything inside the box that acted as an cushion. If we had extra paper left, we would have crumble the papers and put it in to the box to reduce the impact on the egg, but there weren't any papers left. As an guess, when textbook was dropped, the egg jumped and bounced inside of the box and got cracked because there weren't any supporting materials that helped the egg to stay stable.
-
Next time, we would make bigger cylinder with left over papers. We would crumble the papers and put it inside the box to make egg not move and reduce the damage of the egg.
